BESS Operation Engineer

About Hybrid Greentech

We have deeptech knowledge within energy storage and hydrogen that supports large organizations in the effort to reach 100% renewable energy. We want to make it simple to leverage the full revenue potential for energy storage. We and our customers are in an emerging renewable market that will face 30 fold growth over the coming years.

Hybrid Greentech is a 4-year old company entering the scale-up phase, developing an AI-driven software ecosystem for sizing and real-time optimisation of energy storage, and Power to X solutions in energy markets. We are a team of 10 people with strong domain knowledge in renewable energy, energy storage, machine learning, and AI who want to revolutionise energy storage, grid-scale battery systems, and Power to X flexibility in energy and power markets to balance the generation and the consumption of the electric power systems with large shares of renewable energy.

Electric systems are complex and dynamic but digitization of the sector made access to data which allows to develop data driven methods to operate energy storage systems. Our solution gridhub.ai concentrates all the knowledge gathered by our technical team into a software tool that collects electricity markets, electric grid status and weather data to schedule and operate energy storage systems optimally. Behind the scene, HERA our AI engine forecasts the operation to increase operating profit and extend the energy storage system lifetime.

 

About the team

You’ll be working as a part of an experienced software engineering team and PhDs in the energy sector developing a product across the world to accelerate deployment of energy storage to support the green energy transition.

 

About the Role

The Role will involve:

  • Collaborating with external partners and BESS product suppliers on grid integration and integration with our Virtual Power Plant for ancillary service markets

  • Perform BESS testing at site during asset enablement

  • Perform pre-qualification test for ancillary service markets

  • Evaluate if BESS systems fulfill local grid connection requirements

  • Advise customers on grid integration of BESS with transformers and consumption loads

  • Specification and communication with internal and external energy management systems

  • Evaluation technical pre-qualification requirements for operating BESS in portfolios with heat pumps, EV chargers and electric heaters

About you

The successful candidate will have experience designing and building or evaluating and testing Battery Energy Storage Systems . Beyond the technical skills, he/she is a problem solver, has a positive mindset towards challenges and enjoy learning new tools to overcome them.

 

Requirements

  • Experience with battery energy storage systems

  • Experience with grid requirements - particularly Northern Europe is a plus

  • Experience with energy management systems

  • Experience with Python

 

Desirable

 

  • Specifying battery signal list for the virtual power plants

  • Experience with grid codes

  • Experience in building energy management algorithms

  • Working in a data-centric organisation

  • Experience with energy or financial trading systems

Terms

  • Office location in Taastrup with 15+ travelling days a year
