Job Opportunity
Risk & Compliance Manager
Hybrid Greentech is a fast-growing tech-first energy trading scale-up building the data and algorithmic infrastructure behind the green transition. We trade across European power markets and need a diligent and experienced professional to help us build and scale risk management and compliance across the company.
About the role
You will have a central role with responsibility for building and managing our processes around trading risk management, trading and energy industry compliance and regulatory framework. You bring some previous experience to the table, to lead the maturity of Hybrid Greentech in the risk and compliance space. You will work closely with several departments in the organisation, and lead the way, across functions, in fulfilling our customers, partners and regulatory bodies requirements on our business. You will be responsible for communication to the board of directors concerning risk and compliance and defining our approach to such matters with input from the executive management and board of directors.
What you'll do
-
Lead the adoption and implementation of a scalable trading risk governance in an energy trading environment. Set the risk appetite and the limits. Define what happens when one breaks.
-
Design our compliance governance framework, then run it. Objectives, roles, risk assessment, annual plan, training, board reporting. Everything below depends on it.
-
Monitor our own trading for market abuse against ACER guidance. Work out what matters and what doesn't. Decide what follows along with the rest of the team.
-
Review the book after the fact. Positions, exposures, limit usage, P&L, against cleared and settled data. Check the controls fired when they should have. Check the limits were right to begin with.
-
Sit on the approval gate for new trading algorithms with Engineering and Market Platform. Nothing goes live without your review. Sign off regulatory readiness before we enter a new market or launch a product, including supporting finance with fulfilment of obligations, e.g. collateral, reporting etc.
-
Own our reporting and disclosure obligations. The exchanges report on-venue trades as our RRM, but the obligation stays ours. Bilateral trades, inside information and our ACER registration each need their own route.
-
Handle Forsyningstilsynet, ACER and the Exchanges. RFIs, registrations, consultations. Industry forums too, since that's where the grey areas get settled
-
Take ownership of NIS2 compliance and ISO certifications required as market standard or by law
What we are looking for
-
5-10 years in a risk management, compliance, or similar roles, ideally in energy trading, commodities or banking, leading implementation of risk governance framework.
-
High integrity with an urge to do right while also balance business and commercial needs.
-
Hands on REMIT, MiFID or anything related to power market experience. You've looked at an alert and made the call.
-
Willing to challenge traders and engineers on systems you didn't build. And to write down why, either way.
-
Comfortable that your assurance comes after the fact. You won't have a stop button. Your leverage is the limits you set upfront and the evidence you produce afterwards.
-
Ability to lead initiatives across different functions, drive change management and deliver on clear objectives of implementation.
-
Clear written communicator in English and ability to communicate effectively with high-level key stakeholders.
-
Comfortable working in a scale-up: ambiguity, fast iteration, and building things that didn't exist yesterday.
Nice to have
-
Previous experience implementing NIS2 and/or ISO 27001 standards.
-
Direct experience with European power markets (EPEX, Nord Pool) or balancing/ancillary services.
-
Algo trading governance experience.
What we offer
-
A central seat in an ambitious, fast-scaling energy trading business with real impact on the green transition.
-
Competitive salary, bonus, and pension; freedom under responsibility.
-
Hybrid working from our Copenhagen office, with flexibility around the trading day.
-
A small, ambitious team; short paths from idea to production, and making an impact on company growth and maturation.
