Ænergy and Hybrid Greentech starts operating one of Denmark's first grid-connected hybrid solar-and-battery plants

Kroghøj becomes one of Denmark's first grid-connected hybrid solar-and-battery plants, with Hybrid Greentech acting as Balance Responsible Party and trading optimiser.

For more than a year, Kroghøj has done one thing well. It has turned sunlight into power, predictable and steady, feeding the grid on the rhythm of the seasons. Now that rhythm has changed. On behalf of Solcellepark Kroghøj, Ænergy has signed a contract with Hybrid Greentech, naming Hybrid Greentech as Balance Responsible Party (BRP) and optimiser for the site, and the solar park now operates as a fully hybridised facility, one that pairs battery storage with grid-compliant systems and real-time trading capability. 

A trading platform built for exactly this  

Kroghøj is one of the country's first large-scale DSO-connected hybrid plants. Solar and battery, connected to the grid, trading in real time. Few sites in Denmark can claim that combination. Fewer still have the trading expertise to make it count. 

“In 2018 we founded Hybrid Greentech to show that the future of energy systems would be hybrid, and that the real value would sit in how those assets were operated, not just how they were built. Kroghøj is exactly the kind of project we built Hybrid Greentech to handle,” says Hybrid Greentech CEO Rasmus Rode Mosbæk. "We are not stepping into hybridisation from the outside. We are a BRP and a trader with a multi-market platform running today, and that is what makes the difference between owning a battery and actually capturing its value. “This is more than adding a battery to an existing asset – it changes what the asset is capable of,” says Morten Porse, CEO of Ænergy, and continues: “By combining solar and storage behind the same grid connection, we can use both the existing infrastructure and the energy produced far more dynamically. The real value lies in getting the technical integration, operational strategy and market participation to work as one system. That is the approach we have taken with this project together with Hybrid Greentech – turning an existing renewable asset into a more flexible and commercially capable hybrid plant.” 

Behind the project stands Endra, the majority owner of Solcellepark Kroghøj, together with co-owners Jysk Energi and KP Sol & Vind in close partnership with Ænergy, which has played a key role in developing, operating and managing the facility, the partners are working to establish a new benchmark for hybrid power plants in the Danish market.
